Overview

Overview

Detect wall thickness changes in a single or multiple casing strings with theDigital Magnelog™ (DMAG™) casing inspection servicefrom Baker Hughes. An electromagnetic, multifrequency, multispacing casing inspection service, DMAG gives you a detailed account of the potential corrosion activity in your casing—well before the onset of a costly casing failure.

Precise wall measurements from inside and out

The DMAG service determines the cumulative wall thickness of one or more concentric casing strings by measuring the amount of magnetic field shift, which is affected by casing thickness and permeability. The tool also includes an electronic caliper that measures the magnetic permeability of the void between the tool and the inner wall of the casing, which indicates the average circumferential inside diameter. A differential anomaly indicator identifies small defects on the inside wall of the casing, which are displayed on a graph.

The wall thickness and caliper measurements let you differentiate between internal and external loss of metal from the casing. The wall thickness curve provides the external wall losses, while the electronic caliper and anomaly indicator detector curves respond to metal loss from the inside of the casing.

The DMAG service is available in different tool sizes to measure metal loss in casing sizes ranging from 4 ½-in. to 133/8——。(114.3毫米到339.7毫米)。所有工具、ements at a maximum logging speed of 60 ft/min (9.14 m/min) and are rated for operation at a maximum pressure and temperature or 20,000 psi (137.9 MPa) and 350°F (177°C).

The DMAG service records all data—phase shifts, amplitudes, circumferential section calipers, and differential anomaly indicators—simultaneously on the same logging pass. Use this information to select the optimal measurement frequency and spacing, suited to your specific well conditions, for future logging runs.
